Over the weekend, I participated in the 2024 Individual Player National Championship Tournament, the premier national quizbowl high school and collegiate tournament held by NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments) in Chicago, Illinois. I am pleased to announce that in the subject of geography, I was crowned National Champion! 🏆🥇 (Although I probably could have fared better in other subjects 😅)The overall experience was fantastic, however. Quizbowl isn't really offered as an academic team in my school (it's usually played with 4 players, like most academic bowl competitions), so participating individually for the first time was awesome! With more than 260 players playing, it was very competitive. But after a long day of more than 500 grueling tossups, we crowned a national champion. (I think my hand is still sore from slamming a buzzer hundreds of times)I'll for sure be back next year (and possibly with a team for other competitions, and much more improved in the other subjects, hopefully). I encourage people to participate in quizbowl- it's super fun, fast-paced, and really just an amazing way to test the full extent of human knowledge. You can view my stats down below. I pretty much only answered what I knew in each round, however a couple of answers I knew in the other subjects really did test the limits of what I actually knew! #quizbowl #academia #geography
