Pinch punch it’s flippin June already And it’s gonna be wild✈️ Fly back from fundraising meetings in US 🏝️ Short break in Porto 🤓 Atomicon in Newcastle The challenge with a few trips in a month of travel is how to keep on top of the house, kids, and pets. So it will inevitably involve…✔️Online grocery shopping ✔️My cleaner (hour a week but it helps a bit!)✔️Prep kitchen (high protein main meals sorted, saves so much time)✔️My chauffeur (thanks Dad)✔️Dog sitter (also Dad)✔️School (thanks government)All told that leaves plenty of time for fundraising shenanigans to pay for the above (fortunately Dad’s rates are very reasonable 😜)Happy June people! What does it have in store for you?

I know the feeling. That six pints of milk you picked up last week was supposed to last until this week’s big shop...but somehow, you always end up getting through more than you expect and now you’re dashing to the corner shop to save yourself from two days of dry muesli. Oh, and milk’s another 10p more expensive again this week. For the same reason you find yourself always nipping out to the shop for another pint of milk, charities often need more funding, more frequently, than most people think. That’s not because they’re wasteful – most charities I know stretch what they have to the max. We’re in tough times, milk and money do not flow as far as they used to. Which brings me to say... Fundraisers, don’t be ashamed to ask your regular donors whether they can increase their gift size. They can always say no. But they might say yes. Non-fundraisers, unless you like eating dry muesli, please don’t be offended if a charity you support asks you for more. You can say no. But you might be able to say yes!Want to learn how to grow your charity? Check out the Charity Growth Mini MBA, by Better Story starting in September. More info in the comments

I've show you mine, why don't you show me yourPrices ???Fundraising - prices on our website Comms - prices on our website Coaching - prices on my website But, sooooo many coaches and service based business hide their prices. I can only assume it's because if you knew the prices before, you wouldn't get in touch with them!? They then want to use sales tactics to 'close' you. And no it's not because prices vary. Our prices vary, which is why we say 'from' where we have to. But the 'from' price is legit what people pay, unless there is added complexity or scale in which case we are upfront about that. Most prices are fixed. It's got to the point now where I will not contact an individual or business if the price is deliberately hidden. I just think it's bad practice. Am I wrong? ----btw, feel free to check out prices 😂 :www.betterstory.co.uk to raise more money and awareness for your causewww.dandoherty.org for help designing the life and business you want

Do you have a vision for the life and business you want?I didn’t. 6 years ago I didn’t even know starting a business was an option. But I started wondering if there was more to life than I was experiencing. I started reading, and researching and my eyes were opened. There is another way! It led me to start a side hustle helping nonprofits with their marketing. And that turned in to a proper business thats doubled in size the last 2 years running. All along I’ve had a vision for it, how it will benefit the world, and how it will interact with me and my kids. It drives every decision I make and gives me the sanity to push through the hard times. I’m half way in to a 10 year plan. I know what I’m aiming for. Do you? Or does the vision need honing? My experience tells me it is possible to completely turn your life (and business) around so that it works for you (and not the other way round). Will it be easy? No. Will it be worth it? You bet 😉----👋🏼 I'm the founder and CEO of Better Story. I also coach business owners to design the life and business they want 🙌🏼 Link in comments 👇🏼

I need help with these:🍽️ OMAD (One Meal A Day) fasting 🥶 Cold baths 😮💨 Breathwork All topics that came up in the first few chapters of ‘the wealth money can’t buy’ by Robin Sharma (of the 5am club). I folded the pages to revisit them later because these aren’t things I currently do. ❓I’m not sure about fasting because I’m gaining weight (slowly) through lifting.❓I’m not sure about cold baths, because, well, they’re too cold.❓And I’m not sure about breath-work because I’ve never tried it and don’t know what to do.It would really help me to know if you practice any of these and how you find it? Thank you 🙏🏼

Are you designing the life and business you actually want? I’m in from Portugal for a few days. It was going to be a work trip, but it turned in to an actual mini break ☀️ I couldn’t have dreamed of this kind of flexibility and opportunity 6 years ago. It’s only possible because I’ve been deliberately planning and implementing a strategy to live a life that I really want. It’s been such hard work and I’m still only 5 years in to my plan. Some things are ahead of schedule and others are behind. But I don’t mind because at least I know what I’m aiming for! Do you? It’s something I discuss a lot with my coaching clients. Because there are so many reasons to bumble through life on autopilot:> Fear of what people will think if we make a change > The time and thinking required to plot a new course > Self worth to believe you and your family deserve happiness> Fear of failure - what if it goes wrong?> The money needed to invest in yourself > The bravery it takes to start > The effort it requires to continue And yet overcoming these things will teach you so much that it's worth doing it just for that, let alone for the amazing feeling of seeing it slowly unfold before your eyes, knowing all along that the best is yet to come. What one thing would you change about your life or business if you could? ----I’m Dan, founder of Better Story - we help charities grow by providing first-class fundraising and communications servicesI’m also a coach, helping execs and business owners to design the life and business they want. One of our clients just received £29,063 in response to an application we wrote 🥳Here’s what it shows us:⭐️ PatienceWe started work for this client in January ‘24. They were very well prepared so we were able to submit this application, and 6 others in February ‘24. So that’s a month of onboarding and prep and 3 months of waiting to hear back from the funder. In our experience that’s as quick as it gets when outsourcing and yet it took 4 MONTHS. ⭐️ ProspectingResearching funders well takes time and skill and can make all the difference to your work. The benefit of working a company like Better Story is that our database of funders is growing all the time and the more work we do the more accurate it is in terms of who is giving to what.⭐️ PreparationCase for support, accounts, impacts budget… it all takes time and the better prepared you are the quicker you are going to get applications high quality, tailored applications out. Of course we’re here to help if you need support whether it be adhoc or ongoing. BUT, if you’d rather learn to DIY, you’ll be pleased to hear that we are soon to launch the Charity Growth Mini MBA which will teach you to improve all areas of your charity, including Trust fundraising. It’s a 6 month course packed with value and yet won't take too much of your time. DM to find out more. Happy fundraising people!Ps. Why didn’t they round it up to £30k?According to the funder it's:“because it was extremely competitive and every pound matters.” Which i thought was a great point. #fundraising #charity #NonProfit #Trusts #Foundations
