Meet Loreta Navarro-Castro, a peace educator based in the Philippines. "My reasons for being a peace educator stem from both spiritual/ethical and practical roots. I think of my calling as upholding human dignity, promoting love as a social ethic, and cultivating nonviolence as an appropriate response to the destructive paths humanity has created." Make the Change You Want to See.It’s quite fitting that we kick off this week with an important occasion: Juneteenth. In Trinidad and Tobago, we celebrated the end of slavery with Emancipation Day on August 1st (1834). Emancipation Day was the day that slavery was abolished in the British Empire, whereas Juneteenth marks the emancipation of slaves in the US, notably first celebrated in Texas after the civil war in 1865. There is a lot of meaning attached to these occasions, and a lot of posts and stories celebrating and recognizing the occasion. However I like to reflect and relate these occasions to where we are today as a society and a community. Today, to me, marks a time when communities, society and nations made a drastic change to the “norm”- what had always been was questioned, and a change was made. The lesson for me today, and this week, is that nothing is set in stone. When we think what we know to be true is the only way, there’s always a change one can make for the better of the community, people and life. Whether it’s business, personal, professional or social, we should face everyday as if there’s something we can do better. In keeping this short, I want to mark today as a day of change- a day when presidents, Kings and Queens and people around the world all said enough, a change is necessary. So as we towards our future, what can we change for the better?#emancipation #liberation #juneteenth #change #advancement #society #community

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is a day, a week, and in some areas, a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future. https://lnkd.in/eVukGTMy

CLI’sGood Leaders, Good Shepherdsinitiative supports priests in all aspects of their ministry by helping them become better administrators of a parish community. According to Fr. Ralph O’Donnell of the Diocese of Omaha, NE, “Anything that can be done to help priests assert themselves, be more efficient, and be comfortable with administrative tasks is ultimately going to set a culture and climate that is more conducive to prayer.” Learn more about Fr.
