If you want to level up on performance with a terrain-capable hoverboard that's still ideal for kids aged 6 to 12, the SISIGAD B01 is where it's at.

With 700W of motor power, I clocked a top speed of 7.6 MPH and I was able to get 5.7 miles of travel on a single charge.

There's a lot I like about the B01 - from its aerodynamic look and bright dual headlights to the beefed up solid 8.5" off-road tires, this thing is one of my favorite all-terrain boards.

At 28 lbs, it's one of the heavier boards on this list, but its weight is warranted in a sturdy shell, high durability, strong motors and a high 200 lbs weight capacity.

The SISIGAD B01 doesn't skimp on fun either; there are Bluetooth speakers, and the LED lights can sync with the music rhythm. The audio quality was surprisingly good, but I found that running the speakers takes a lot of power, giving about 15% less range.

There's a neat battery indicator at the front that I found to be more accurate than average and the anti-skid pedals are grippy and easy to clean.

Best Under $100 Gotrax Edge

Reliability for a dime. The Edge is small and limited in power, but it's an excellent starter hoverboard at a near impossible low price.

I know what you're thinking: a reliable hoverboard under $100? Too good to be true. I understand the skepticism, but through my extensive tests, it has proven to be a durable hoverboard, and it doesn't cut corners on UL safety certifications.

The Gotrax Edge is as reliable as the top performers on this list, so why is it so cheap? With two 200W hub motors and a low-capacity battery, it offers less performance than most competitors and the ride quality isn't as refined as our top picks, but it's all warranted in price.

Using a GPS performance tracker, I hit a top speed of 5.9 MPH and got 3.4 miles of range on a charge. These numbers may seem underwhelming in comparison to the Gyroor G13 or SISIGAD B01, but at under $100, this is the best performance you'll get.

Its limited performance is not necessarily a weakness, either. If you're a beginner, the limited yet smooth power output is manageable and it's not as big of an economic commitment as more expensive models. At the end of the day, you can always upgrade if you outgrow the performance og the Edge.

Another benefit of smaller motors and battery is that this thing is lightweight. At a mere 13.2 lbs, it's ultra-portable for kids and adults alike, but it still manages an impressive weight capacity of 220 lbs!

There are no Bluetooth speakers or app functionality, and the small solid tires aren't as smooth as pneumatic or larger ones, but the Edge has fairly bright lights in the wheels, in the front and at the back, making it a safe option with excellent visibility in low-light scenarios.

Best Lightweight Jetson Spin

The Jetson Spin is the ultimate budget-friendly featherweight. It offers great performance for its weight, boasts UL certifications and has a high max load for kids and adults alike.

The Jetson Spin has for long been on of my favorite hoverboards. It may not have the highest top speed or range, but the performance numbers in relation to its weight speak for themselves.

From my tests, the Jetson Spin is one of the only sub-20 lbs self-balancing scooters to hit a top speed above 6 MPH! Its expectional lightness is what truly sets it apart. It's incredibly practical and easy to carry around, making it perfect for leisure rides or short commutes.

5.1 miles of real-world range is alright and the side and front lights ensure good visibility and safety.

One of my favorite things about the Spin is its large foot pads. There's space enough for big feet and shifting your stance. It also has plenty of grip and I found it easy to clean with a wet cloth and soft brush.

At a competitive price, Jetson has cut costs on features. There are no speakers or app integration, but if you're fine the no-frills experience of a simple and durable design, I highly recommend the Jetson Spin.

Best Features Hover-1 Horizon

Hover-1 Horizon packs all the features you'd want in a hoverboard at a low price. It has the longest range on this list, too!

The Hover-1 Horizon is one of the best selling hoverboards in 2024, and for good reason! This board packs a lot of fun without sacrifing on ride comfort or performance.

The Horizon may be stretching the budget compared to some of the picks above, but it's still an excellent deal for those who want more.

One of the things I really enjoyed when testing this hoverboard was the companion app. Via Bluetooth, you can control the colors of the LED lights, change speed modes (great for beginners) and track battery levels and performance in-depth. The Bluetooth speakers are great as well. They're loud and clear and have better-sounding low-end than most competitors.

You might think that Hover-1 spent all the budget on fancy features, but that's far from the truth. The Horizon is both comfortable and capable. I measured a top speed of 6.8 MPH and managed a whopping 6.3 miles on a single charge, the longest on this list!

The positives don't end there - with 8-inch solid tires and torquey motors, this hoverboard handles uneven surfaces well and can take on mild inclines. With a 220 lbs weight capacity, it's ideal for all riders 8 years and up.

The only real downsides to the Horizon are that it's fairly heavy and more expensive than alternatives. Still, you get want you pay for.

Best Visibility & Lights SISIGAD A02

I chose the SISIGAD A02 mainly for its excellent visibility setup with lights at the front, tires and mudguards. But it's also very capable for the price; an ideal option for kids.

The SISIGAD A02 isn't the smoothest hoverboard I've tried, but for those prioritizing visibility and low-light safety, it's an affordable standout. The A02 boasts bright and customizable LED at the front, on each wheel and above the wheels on the mudguards - this is rare for a budget hoverboard.

The small 6.5-inch solid tires limit it to use on smooth roads, but the 300W dual motors are surprisingly capable, scoring a 6.2 MPH top speed in my tests. The tested range of 4.1 miles is a bit of a bummer, but it's still a tad more than the Gotrax Edge, so you could argue this self-balancing scooter is even better value.

While intended for kids and teens from 6 to 12 years, the fairly high weight capacity of 220 lbs makes it a versatile hoverboard that'll handle the occasional ride by mom or dad. The fun doesn't stop there, because the A02 has Bluetooth connectivity and speakers - they're not as nice-sounding Hover-1 Horizon speakers, but the board is cheaper and more lightweight.

I will say that the shell doesn't feel that durable. Although it held up against some wear and tear from my testing, the plastic feels thin and scratches easily, but it's to be expected at this price.

Best for Heavier Riders Hover-1 H1

If you're over 220 lbs, the Hover-1 H1 will serve you well with its efficient motors and weight capacity of 264 lbs.

Getting a cheap hoverboard often means you're sacrifing some motor performance. However, the Hover-1 H1 combines 400W of high-efficiency motor power with some of the best structural integrity I've come across. The result is what I consider to be the best cheap hoverboard for heavier riders.

With a max load capacity of 264 lbs, this thing is geared towards riders of all sizes, and the range in particular impressed me. Thanks to a large-capacity 144 Wh battery, I got 6.1 miles of real-world range on a single charge. Top speed is good as well with a GPS-measured 6.7 MPH.

This thing is bulky by design. It's reliable and handles day-to-day wear and tear really well. My only real issue with the H1 is that it has 6.5-inch tires. This hoverboard has the potential to be an all-terrain challenger, but small solid wheels mean it doesn't do well with uneven terrain.

The H1 hoverboard has Bluetooth speakers and app connectivity, and in my opinion, Hover-1 has the best of both in the industry. Whether your a kid, teen or young adult, the H1 is a dependable ride.

Most Popular Gotrax Nova

The Gotrax Nova is one of the most sold hoverboards in 2024. Backed by a reliable brand, the Nova has some of the smoothest gyroscopic technology I've tried.

We wrap up the list with a fan favorite (and a personal favorite) - the Gotrax Nova. While its specs might not seem like the best deal at first glance, Gotrax's reputation for crafting refined rides justifies the slight premium.

In my performance tests, the Nova reached a max speed of 5.9 MPH and offered a real-world range of 4.2 miles. These numbers are respectable, but not great.

However, the Nova excels in reliability and smooth operation. Despite its portability and light weight, it's remarkably sturdy. Over two months of testing here in Denmark, it proved its durability and maintained its performance impressively.

It isn't exactly a high-pace hill beater, but its acceleration response is linear and smooth and overall it feels notably less jumpy than most cheap competitors.

If you value reliability and beginner-friendliness over sheer performance vs. price, the Gotrax Nova is a nimble top pick.
