On June 17, 1937, she married Abram Goode of Pine Log, Georgia and from 1946 until his death in 1991, they lived in Montgomery, Alabama. Following his death, she lived in Atlanta until 1998, when she moved to Alterra Sterling House in Tallahassee. Her home church in Atlanta was the Baptist Tabernacle where she served the Lord in her youth. In subsequent years, she served him In Baptist churches wherever she lived.

In Prescott, she wrote a book entitled The Synthesis Imperative summarizing her thoughts about how different intellectual disciplines need to work together to save the environment.
