Understands basic childhood developmental milestones and recognize the diversity of all students
Holds a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following three requirements to be employed:
Obtained a working knowledge in reading, mathematics, and writing by completing two years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or
Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
Met a rigorous and objective standard of quality, including a North Dakota-approved assessment of reading, mathematics, and writing skills.
Individuals holding a North Dakota educator’s professional license meet the requirements under ESSA, and the teaching license number could be used instead of the paraprofessional certificate of completion number
Knowledge of or willingness to learn online learning platforms and tools (i.e., Google Apps, Schoology, StrongMind, Classlink, Remind, IXL, PowerSchool)
Proficient in using technology and troubleshooting technical issues
Excellent synchronous and asynchronous communication skills and must collaborate effectively with learners, parents, staff members, and the community
Solid organizational and time management skills
Such additions to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBLE TO Roughrider Coordinator
JOB GOAL As an online paraprofessional, you will support and assist students in an online learning environment and face-to-face at DMS. This role is crucial in ensuring students receive the necessary guidance and resources to succeed academically in a flexible learning environment.
collaborate with supervising teachers to plan and carry out appropriate student activities. This employee must be willing to take the initiative to help any student within the assigned work environment.
supervise students at our face-to-face and virtual “Get it Done” clubs and at face-to-face theme days. They will collaborate with the learner’s teacher and families to maintain student checklists and support keeping students on pace with coursework. This employee may be able to work remotely for part of this position.
work to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting student engagement and participation.
assist with implementing behavioral management plans including appropriate intervention techniques.
assist in meeting the accommodations outlined in a student’s IEP, 504, behavioral, or health plan. Duties may include monitoring adaptive equipment, including but not limited to assistive technology devices, wheelchairs, feeding devices, standers, and various medical technologies. Training and monitoring will be provided.
assist with other duties as assigned by the coordinator to meet the needs of all students.
maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior.
assist with the daily school operations such as parent communications, materials exchange, technology, and clerical duties.
assist with marketing through social media and other web-based platforms.
maintain general office files, reports, and records.
meet and greet students, parents, and visitors during face-to-face times.
create and distribute announcements.
process phone calls.
assist with onboarding and gathering materials for new enrollments.
assemble and organize registration and enrollment materials.
assist families with the use of PowerSchool, Remind, & Schoology.
assist the team with data management.
support with school mailings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Normally 185 working days with seven paid holidays. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education in accordance with the Classified Salary & Benefit Package.
EVALUATION A performance review will be conducted annually in accordance with the provisions established by the administration and the Board.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The job’s functions may require the following physical demands: Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. This position requires the ability to lift 30lbs.
